The Cycle-Count Playbook
For warehouse and inventory managers who count once a year and find out too late
An annual stocktake tells you how wrong you were, twelve months after it stopped being fixable. This is the operating method for counting continuously instead, the one running in a live warehouse today, written so your team can run it without me.
What changes after you use it
- Your counts measure the shelf instead of confirming the system
- A discrepancy has a defined path instead of a WhatsApp argument
- You know what to count next, and why, without guessing
- Shortages close against a document, so nothing is quietly written off
What's inside
- The blind-count operating procedure, step by step
- The escalation ladder: recount, third count, documented closure
- ABC classification and per-category tolerance tables
- The counting-priority model that ranks what to count next
- Supervisor review checklist and daily count sheet
Questions
Do I need specific software for this?
No. The method is written to run on an export from whatever system you already use. It works on paper; it works better with a tool.
Will it work for a small warehouse?
Yes. Below roughly 500 SKUs you will use the tolerance tables and skip the priority model, the playbook says which parts to drop.
Is it in Arabic?
Both. Arabic and English are included, and the floor-facing sheets are Arabic-first.
